Windows 7 Wireless Set Up
- Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
- Select Manage wireless networks then Add
- Select Manually create a network profile
enter only the following: - Network name: Northwestern
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption type: AES
- Click Next then select Change connection settings
- Click the Security tab. Under Network Authentication Method select Protected EAP (PEAP)
- Uncheck Remember my credentials…; Click Settings
- From the Protected EAP Properties window:
- Check Validate Server Certificate
- Uncheck Connect to these Servers
- Under Trusted Root Certification Authorities verify that both VeriSign Trust Network check boxes are selected. No other boxes should be selected under Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
- Select Authentication Method: Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
- Click Configure
- Uncheck Automatically use my Windows Logon name and password (and domain if any)
- Click OK
- A notice similar to the following will appear in your system tray:
- Click Enter/select additional logon information
- Input your credentials in the Windows Security Network Authentication Form
- Type your NetID.
- Type your NetID password.
- Click OK.
- A window similar to the following will appear:
- You need to verify that the certificate is valid before you continue. Click the View Server Certificate button to show the details of the certificate. A window similar to the following will appear:
- If the Issued by: and Valid from match the above screen, click OK. Note: Issued to may contain syntax "netauth1" or "netauth2". A window similar to the following will appear:
- Click OK to save your changes.
- You need to verify that the certificate is valid before you continue. Click the View Server Certificate button to show the details of the certificate. A window similar to the following will appear:
- If you are successful, a window similar to the following will appear:
