Windows 7 Wireless Set Up

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center
  2. Network and Sharing Center
  3. Select Manage wireless networks then Add
  4. Select Manually create a network profileManually create a network profile
    enter only the following:
    1. Network name: Northwestern
    2. Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
    3. Encryption type: AES
    Manually create a network profile
  5. Click Next then select Change connection settingsChange connection settings
  6. Click the Security tab. Under Network Authentication Method select Protected EAP (PEAP)
  7. Uncheck Remember my credentials…; Click SettingsSecurity Tab
  8. From the Protected EAP Properties window: PEAP Properties
    1. Check Validate Server Certificate
    2. Uncheck Connect to these Servers
    3. Under Trusted Root Certification Authorities verify that both VeriSign Trust Network check boxes are selected. No other boxes should be selected under Trusted Root Certification Authorities.
    4. Select Authentication Method: Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
    5. Click Configure
  9. Uncheck Automatically use my Windows Logon name and password (and domain if any)
  10. Click OK
  11. A notice similar to the following will appear in your system tray: Connect to Wireless Network
    1. Click Enter/select additional logon information
  12. Input your credentials in the Windows Security Network Authentication FormEnter/select additional logon information
    1. Type your NetID.
    2. Type your NetID password.
    3. Click OK.
  13. A window similar to the following will appear:Validate cert
    1. You need to verify that the certificate is valid before you continue. Click the View Server Certificate button to show the details of the certificate. A window similar to the following will appear:Rad server cert 0208
    2. If the Issued by: and Valid from match the above screen, click OK. Note: Issued to may contain syntax "netauth1" or "netauth2". A window similar to the following will appear:cert
    3. Click OK to save your changes.
  14. If you are successful, a window similar to the following will appear:Windows XP Wireless Network Connections (Connected)
